Tissue Technology

Pöyry has developed its tissue competence for more than 20 years. In the last 10 years, we have carried out more than 15 complete tissue mill engineering projects with a total annual capacity of one million tons. The projects cover all project phases from basic design to site supervision and commissioning. In addition, we have completed numerous pre-studies, feasibility studies , basic engineering projects and production optimisation projects.

This experience provides a solid basis for our engineering services and for continuous development of tissue paper production, converting as well as production of hygiene products.

Pöyry focuses on high end-product quality, high operating availability and efficiency. Pöyry also seeks an environmentally sound approach that ensures optimal raw material and energy balance.

On-site gas turbine co-generation plants are used to lower the energy cost, while at the same time the heat energy produced by the gas turbine can be used for drying, steam and hot water production. On-site generation of electricity will also significantly increase the operating availability of tissue mills in countries with weak electrical power distribution systems.

Our production optimisation and product quality improvement services are based on many years of experience from commissioning and tuning of tissue mills. These complement Pöyry's package of project related services for new investments and rebuilds.
