Remote Sensing

Pöyry provides image interpretation and processing services, products and applications using satellite data, and distributes commercial satellite imagery from almost all over the world.

A team of remote sensing experts utilises remote sensing in projects worldwide and supplies tailored expert services based on satellite imagery. Our services include land cover mapping, DEM extraction, high-resolution urban mapping, environmental monitoring and change detection. We work with optical and radar images, and recently also with hyperspectral data.

Remote sensing is increasingly used for a wide range of needs, such as natural forest and water resources inventories, mapping of built-up infrastructure, accurate control of earth deformations and man-made structures, rapid response in disaster applications and global monitoring of the environment (climate change detection, pollution and security applications).

With experts in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping industries, the team understands that most geographical applications require the delivery of integrated information products derived from multiple data sources. The integrated, multi-sensor approach keeps our customers on the cutting edge of advanced information solutions, and offers support to resource managers, disaster agencies, decision-makers, and other users of satellite-based information.
